Forty years ago, I was taken to a bare room, with only a chair and a TV. I was told to watch the TV. With that, the door closed behind me, leaving me alone in the room. And, after an hour, the door opened and I was asked about the show. I thought it was babyish. Letters and numbers? That was Kindergarten stuff. The other questions and my replies are dimmed by the passing of the years. I do recall that my responses were dutifully noted and I was dismissed.

I also remember the name of the program. It was called Sesame Street. To this day I don't know if I was part of a test audience, or if it was program evaluation for the state PBS.

Anyway, Sesame Street turned 40 today. Which is why Google went all Yellow with Big Bird.

My kids both loved Sesame Street.

Me too. It was one of those kid shows that always had something for adults to love, too.

My very Favoretist Sesame Street bit is this priceless Jam. It never ceases to amaze me... the list of celebrities, and musicians they dragged into this bit"

Put Down the Duckie

(It's well worth watching the whole five minutes and a quarter)

40 years ago I was taken into a dark room with my other class mates and tortured with one hour of The Electric Company. Today, San Diego Gas & Electric is still at it.
