Or, the parting of the Red Sea. Thought I'd start a new thread for this because there's several important implications. Okay, no cracks about Africa or politics on this thread.

It is an interesting thing to see the rift.

One of the must-sees on the Chain of Craters Road on the Big Island is the Southern Rift. It's where, eventually, an enormous chunk of the island will break away. Whether to form an offshore island, or to just tumble into the sea, I'm not sure. But it's pretty eerie, made all the scarier when tourists let their children climb down into what is obviously unstable ground.
