Bill,

Nicely put. I see your point. I'll definitely speak to some of my dumber, uh, I mean, more cooperative clients about the whole blood-smear thing!

You know, you've very astutely touched on something that we deal with at work quite a bit.

The eternal life span of the Old Ones has long troubled us in the Estate Planning field. We've struggled mightily with meaningful trust language. Of what value is a "Living Trust" to a couple, Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Old One, who won't ever die? What good is the unlimited interspousal exemption at death for federal estate tax purposes to a husband and wife who will stay together forever? How does the Rule Against Perpetuities actually work when your clients are, umm, perpetual?

There are certain addressable issues, though:

1) Distribution in the event of permanent transition to noncorporal form;
2) Standard State of California probate conservatorship in the event of transdimensional psychotic break;
3) Periodic non-taxable consumption of human slaves to prevent overcrowding in the mind-shattering, non-Euclidean nightmare-place they call home;
4) Discounted annual gifting to various Cthulhu Charities (often called Cthularities, for convenience) - organizations like Society for the Prevention of Caring for Animals (the "SPCA"), the American Heartless Association, the Young Men's Cruelty Association ("YMCA"), and so forth.

-John

Message from Bill Moonroe

Sorry, John. Normally, the Old Ones wouldn't be involved in anything so menial, but I figured they'd make an exception in Byron's case. When they come to claim him, well, an Ark that's bigger on the inside than it is on the outside makes a pretty good ice chest for a feeding frenzy picnic. Perhaps one of your partners at work would have connections to the Old Ones.

Things like car trunks tend to be delegated to the Middle-Aged Ones, who, as they're stuck in an eternal mid-life crisis, have already gotten involved in the car trunk arena. However, their magic makes the trunks seem much bigger than they are, inversely proportional to what you want to fit in there. Jewelry and other small valuables, well, that's why your car trunk looks a light-year wide. A leaking family sized bucket from Gefelte Hut will shrink the car trunk to the size of a peanut. That's from the passive-aggressive Middle-Aged Ones. On top of everything else, they're upset at how the eternal nature of the Old Ones is going to affect the probate process.

John, you may want to appease the Middle-Aged Ones by smearing the blood of the innocents on the car trunk. Preferably not just someone you back over in the Glendale Galleria parking lot, but perhaps one of your clients would be glad to donate to a worthy cause.

Bill,

Do you think the Old Ones might consider that kind of interior maximizing for the trunk of my wife's Toyota Camry? It would make coming back from the grocery much easier.

You know, that might be a nice way for them to pull in some extra cash - for spending money on extradimensional forays, long weekends in Hell, terror-turnarounds to Vegas, etc. They could open a shop on the westside - maybe on La Cienega south of the 10 Freeway. Old Ones's Trunk and Glove Compartment Enlarging Services, Inc.

John
