Here's a list of some of the questions we hear the most and their
answers. If you don't see your question answered here, then email
us at asimovssf@dellmagazines.com, but be sure to read these fully first to make sure that your question hasn't already been answered.
I want to submit a story. What do I do?
See our submision guidelines. |
Do you accept email submissions?
Again, you could see our submission guidelines, but the short answer is no.
What rights do you purchase?
Guess where you look. Yep. Our submission guidelines. Any further questions should be sent in writing to:
Dell Magazines
Subsidiary Rights Dept.
267 Broadway, 4th Floor
New York, NY 10007
But generally, it's not worth worrying about until after we decide to buy the story.

Do you sell back issues?
Asimov's sells RECENT back issues directly from the editorial offices. Simply send an email to customerservice@pennypublications.com requesting the issues you'd like. We will then get back to you with availability, prices (generally cover price with ship costs), and where to send your payment.
For older back issues, you can try posting a message to our forum to see
if any other readers would be willing to part with the issue(s) you want, or find a local SF shop that sells back issues, or check out conventions.
You may also want to check out online auction sites such as eBay. A fair number of back issues have been surfacing there. The dealers we know of who do sell back issues are:
Misfit Press
4705 Weddel Street
Dearborn Heights, MI 48125
Bill Gilmore
The Dawn Treader Book Shop
514 E. Liberty
Ann Arbor, MI 48104
If you know of other dealers we should list here, please email us at asimovssf@dellmagazines.com.

Who do I contact about problems with my suscription?
Send an email to our Customer Service department. Be sure to include your name and full address, and clearly state what the problem is. Please do not send an email to the editorial address, since we do not have the means to solve subscription problems
I submitted a story. Did you receive it?
Sorry, but we can't tell you. We receive far too many submissions to track each one individually. But we can tell you that the chances of us losing your manuscript are very low. If you've been waiting a long time for a response, it's probably because we're experiencing a surge in submissions. It could also be because you didn't include a SASE. If you didn't, send it along with a letter telling us the name of the story to:
Asimov's Science Fiction
267 Broadway, 4th floor
New York, NY 10007
Otherwise, be patient. You'll hear from us soon.
